Aja Nile Brimm is a classically trained, multi-genre singer from Atlanta, Georgia. She began studying music at the age of 8, starting with piano, then transitioning to voice before continuing on to play the guitar and ukulele. Aja graduated from Jackson State University in 2019 where she earned a Bachelor’s in Music in Vocal Performance.
Through a special familial connection to jazz through her cousin, Carmen McRae, she began to pursue an interest in the music she’d heard throughout her childhood. She became highly influenced by, not only her cousin, but also other artists like Dinah Washington, Nancy Wilson, Betty Carter, and Sarah Vaughan.
Aja has had the pleasure of singing at jazz venues across the nation and is active in the jazz community in Atlanta. She plans to continue pursuing jazz and classical singing through championing the works of Black composers and arrangers.
