This new boogaloo movement all started when Wess “Warmdaddy” Anderson, a longtime Wynton Marsalis sideman, and trumpeter Mark Rapp joined forces to present Rapp’s CD “Good Eats” which recognized Sweet Papa Lou Donaldson as one of the pivotal composer/ bandleaders of the modern era. After a couple tours in New Orleans and 4 SOLD OUT shows at the famous Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center, their project developed into recording their first release and a long-awaited new recording by Warmdaddy – an original, brand new, blues infused offering with a formidable band comprised of Atlanta, GA based musicians David Ellington on organ and Chris Burroughs on drums. Their live shows are deep in swing, boogaloos, grooves and adventure. Not afraid to stretch out, they even employ the sounds of the didgeridoo. The Warmdaddy-Rapp Quartet are a refreshingly melodic, grooving, swinging band in these modern, eclectic times.
