The Critics Speak:
“A brilliant interpreter of the Jobim oeuvre, Cantuaria’s rich vocals, sizzling acoustic guitar and subtle percussion express the eternal bossa nova vision with deep intuition, 4 ½ stars.” – Downbeat Magazine.
“Vinicius Cantuária is a husky voiced, low-key singer-songwriter who writes mostly in Portuguese or Spanish, but the use of space and texture was so enchanting that language barriers counted for little. And the bossa-inflected songs soon yielded to improvised passages with darker emotions and a funkier subtext.” – Financial Times, London, UK.
“Cantuaria’s skills as a singer and guitarist have turned him into a mesmerizing live act.” – Time Out New York.
“Cantuária offered a set that was a masterpiece of contemporary music, regardless of definition.” – Los Angeles Times.
