Why did we need a new piano? When The Velvet Note opened in June 2012, we did the best we could do to provide a stellar instrument for musicians. Our 100-year-old Baldwin M Series Baby Grand held up pretty well over the first years. Despite a cracked soundboard and a constant need for tuning, the Baldwin was still one of the best instruments that could be found in a public venue in the area.
Recently, however, The Velvet Note has gained more recognition in the jazz world, and has even been named one of the Best Jazz Clubs Worldwide 2015 by Downbeat Magazine. It simply wouldnt make financial sense to rent a world-class instrument every time a it was required by the high caliber of musicians coming in to perform. So, we turned to Pianoworks of Duluth, GA, who provided a top-rated Seiler Baby Grand and white-glove service to go along with its delivery. A new piano is rarely seen in a small jazz club, and are proud to welcome the Seiler to ours. Now, we are reaching out to our most loyal and enthusiastic supporters for some assistance with the substantial invoice.
