Phil Rogers has taken his rich baritone from the ranks of academia as a terminal degree vocal coach and choral music educator to perform more and more throughout the country and abroad. His vocal interpretations have been compared to that of Johnny Hartman and fellow Chicagoan, Lou Rawls. From the age of 8 as a singer in church, then as a soloist in college and on the academic stage and recital halls Dr. Phil has been described as a passionate lyric interpreter with a captivating and resonant stage presence.
Identified as a crooner by most, Phil describes himself as a song stylist and singing story-teller. He delights in taking audiences on a journey encompassed with soulful melodies and dynamic shadings with his expansive vocal range.
Phil considers performance to be an elixir for the inner soul of audiences desirous of a brief respite from the stresses of life. He emphasizes to his students that, like him, they are responsible to interpret every composer and poet with intelligent passion from the heart.
