Seven Days – a seven-piece tribute to the music of Sting and The Police – is the brainchild of lead vocalist/bassist Doug Busbee (Agent Cooper, Guardians of the Jukebox, Yacht Rock Schooner). When Busbee’s Atlanta music colleagues suddenly found their calendars open due to the pandemic, he saw an opportunity to assemble a supergroup with his friends and pay tribute to one of his deepest influences.
The group debuted in May 2020 at the Velvet Note; performing to just two internet broadcast cameras and with each member standing/sitting six feet apart (at least that’s what the ad claimed).
Says Busbee, “Many working musicians consider playing in Sting’s band the best gig in the world. So in the absence of our usual wedding/bar/corporate party gigs, we decided to create the best gig in the world for ourselves”.
Rounded out by guitarist Scott Patton (Sugarland), vocalist Dominique Brittain (Sweet Soul Sister) and keyboardist Mike Bielenberg (Yacht Rock Revue, Yacht Rock Schooner, U.S. Army Band), the band loves to surprise audiences with deep cuts such as “Russians”, “Saint Augustine in Hell” and, of course, “Seven Days”.
Naturally, the band delivers the big hits like “Every Breath You Take”, “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” and “Fragile”. And given the unique circumstances in which the band was formed, “Don’t Stand So Close To Me” is a set list perennial.
