Kevin Bales blends profound technical skill, soulful performance, and deep commitment to jazz education. Whether you’re exploring his recordings, attending a live set in Atlanta, or following his teaching and podcasting, you’ll encounter a musician deeply connected to the heart and future of jazz.

Only at 17 did Kevin discover jazz, leaving his computer programming job to fully commit to the genre. Toured and recorded extensively with jazz legends like Wynton Marsalis, Louie Bellson, Eddie Daniels, Nat Adderley, Sam Rivers, and Bunky Green. He won the prestigious American Pianist Association’s Jazz Piano Competition in 1994. Currently leads jazz improvisation and small-group programs at Georgia State University School of Music. Kevin operates a private teaching studio and mentors a wide range of students – from hobbyists to career musicians .
