Drummer Lorenzo Sanford

SHOWTIMES: 7:30PM AND 9:30PM. Drummer, composer, Lorenzo Sanford is one of the most eclectic musicians on the music scene today. As a drummer, he has performed with many celebrated artists including Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Holiday, Peabo Bryson, Melba Moore, and Lizz Wright.
His work in musical theater is also vast. He has performed as drummer and assistant musical director in The Fifth Avenue Theatre’s production of The Wiz (Seattle); in The Denver Center for the Performing Arts production of The Color Purple; and in Olney Theatre’s production of Fela! (Maryland)
Recently In Atlanta, where he is based, he was a pivotal player in Ain’t Misbehavin, which won three regional theater awards; and Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill.
His past work includes performing under the helm of acclaimed Broadway director Kenny Leon in Tambourines to Glory and under the direction of Kent Gash, in Five Guys Named Moe andTick, Tick, Boom! He also performed under the direction of Kenny Leon in the workshop production of Motown the Musical, the hit Broadway show written and produced by legendary Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, Jr.
As a composer, Lorenzo holds a degree in music composition.
In addition to composing contemporary jazz, he also writes contemporary chamber music. His work Beauty for Ashes, a composition for double quartet (string quartet and jazz quartet combined) received great acclaim as part of the grand opening concert for North Carolina’s Highlands-Cashiers Chamber Music Festival.
While Lorenzo celebrates his work with other artists, he is also very proud of his original music that features an eclectic mix of his contemporary songs and vocals.
