Mel Dodd is a jazz keyboardist, band leader, composer and arranger who began playing jazz in the 1970s, studied at UNC Chapel Hill, the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and with the renowned jazz improvisation teacher Charlie Banacos. He led his own jazz group in Boston and Atlanta before making a major career change in 1984 to become a softwaredeveloper and business computer consultant. After forty very interesting and successful years in the software business Mel is now retired and has returned to his first love – Jazz.
Aliyah René is a professional singer based in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended Emory University and studied classical voice and musical theater. Since graduation, she has pursued a love of jazz and vocal improvisation, influenced by the likes of Ella Fitzerald, Sarah Vaughan, Amy Winehouse, and numerous others. Besides her specialization in jazz,s he serves as a staff singer at the Cathedral of St. Philip and sings in a variety of choral configurations.
