A Boogaloo Christmas

This new boogaloo movement all started when Wess “Warmdaddy” Anderson, a longtime Wynton Marsalis sideman, and trumpeter Mark Rapp joined forces to present Rapp’s CD “Good Eats” which recognized Sweet Papa Lou Donaldson as one of the pivotal composer/ bandleaders of the modern era. After a couple tours in New Orleans and 4 SOLD OUT shows at the famous Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center, their project developed into their own recording their first release and a long-awaited new recording by Warmdaddy – an original, brand new, blues infused offering with a formidable band comprised of Atlanta, GA based musicians David Ellington on organ and Chris Burroughs on drums. They have since played the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, ColaJazz Festival (opening for Chris Potter), Dizzy’s, The Velvet Note, Snug Harbor and more.

The newly conceived “Boogaloo Christmas” takes our favorite Christmas classics reinventing them into that grooving, swinging, funky feeling that is the boogaloo! Expect this show to be deep in swing, boogaloos, grooves and adventure. Not afraid to stretch out, we may even employ the sounds of the didgeridoo. The Warmdaddy-Rapp Quartet are a refreshingly melodic, grooving, swinging band in these modern, eclectic times. Come groove in the holidays with the sounds of alto-saxophone, trumpet, organ and drums!

ONE SHOW ONLY: 7:30pm Admission: $32.
