Winners of the 2017 DC Jazz Festival, “DC Jazz Prix”, AMP Trio ft. Tahira Clayton will return to the Velvet Note on September 7th, 2019 for a dynamic night of musical storytelling. With eight years as a band under their belt, AMP Trio has carved out four albums of original music in balance with their passion for the standard jazz repertoire: To Be Determined (2018) ft. Tahira Clayton, Three (2017), m(y)our world (2016), Flow (2014) and will have recorded their fifth by this night! The trio is delighted to have Tahira Clayton bringing her artistry to the fold off of the recent release of her debut record, Wait, Till Now (2019). 

Alumnus of the University of North Texas, Juilliard, and Manhattan School of Music, Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Residency (led by Artistic Director Jason Moran), and Ravinia Steans Institute (Rufus Reid, Curtis Fuller, and David Baker), AMP Trio and Tahira are a band of life-long friends bringing with them a good, good sound. 

Collectively, members of AMP Trio have toured/recorded with Bob Belden, Janis Siegel, Tim Hagans, Christopher Cross, John Raymond, Tim Green, Quamon Fowler, and more. Addison proudly plays Yamaha Pianos. Matt proudly plays Canopus Drums, and Vic Firth Drumsticks.
