DESCRIPTION:Al Smith\, a Baltimore native and Morgan State University alumnus with a degree in Music Education\, is among the nation’s premier musicians\, producers\, and music arrangers. Al is–hands down–the most iconic Open Mic musician in Atlanta. Motivated by his dedication to nurturing emerging talent\, he established the Al Smith Jam Session\, a beloved hub for music lovers and up-and-coming artists. Boasting a rich performance history\, He has worked with renowned artists such as disco legend Gloria Gaynor\,Southern hip-hop group Goodie Mob\, R&B group Silk\, and Will Downing among others. He currently collaborates with jazz saxophonist Kim Waters\, jazz pianist Kayla Waters\, as well as soul-jazz artist Ragan Whiteside. He has also taken on the role of musical director for actor-singer TC Carson\, known for his portrayal of Kyle Barker on Living Single. Smith’s artistic partnerships include work with R&B legends such as Layla Hathaway\, Maysa\, Kenny Lattimore\, Chantae Moore\, and Howard Hewett. In addition\, Smith has performed at various prestigious jazz festivals\, including Sea Breeze and Newport Jazz Festival.

Rooted in the church choir\, where her powerful solos uplift congregations\, she has carried that same soulful spirit to stages across the nation and beyond. Since relocating to Atlanta\, she has performed with renowned artists\, appeared in major theatrical productions including Work\, Delayed but Not Denied\, and Langston Hughes’ Tambourines to Glory\, and currently portrays Aretha Franklin in Natural Woman—An Aretha Story. Her rich career includes performing with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra\, sharing the stage with legends like B.B. King\, Stevie Wonder\, and Little Richard during the Olympic Games\, and touring with Sir Elton John as part of the Voice of Atlanta choir for his Peachtree Road album. Now leading her own R&B and jazz band and celebrating the release of her debut solo project Finally It’s Love\, L’Tanya says simply\, “I sing because I believe it’s what God sent me here to do—it’s my purpose.”

DESCRIPTION:FRIDAY AND SATURDAY SHOWTIMES: 7:30PM AND 9:3PM (previously scheduled as The Bobby Broom Quartet). Guitarist Rod Harris Jr. has worked as a professional touring guitarist since 2008. While his musical roots are steeped in jazz\, Harris’ professional collaborations include performances with numerous artists spanning multiple musical genres from gospel\, soul\, hip-hop\, jazz\, and R&B. In 2017\, Harris was nominated for a Grammy Award for his guitar and production contributions on Atlantic recording artist Musiq Soulchild’s album Feel The Real. \n\n\n\nHarris’ professional collaborations also include performances with artists such as Russell Gunn\, Wycliff Gordon\, Red Holloway\, Bishop Paul S. Morton\, Marcus Printup\, Musia Soulchild\, Monica\, Maysa\, Beyonce\, Rueben Studdard\, Queen Latifah\, Melanie Feona\, Mark Whitfield\, Doug Carn\, Fred Wesley\, Syleena Johnson\, Jagged Edge\, Maxwell\, Joi\, Keiko Matsui\, Brian Bromberg\, Dionne Farris\, Jennifer Holliday\, Regina Belle\, a mentor relationship with Bobby Broom and collaborations with many others. \n\n\n\nHarris joined the Florida State University Jazz Faculty in 2023 and Clark Atlanta University in 2024. As an educator\, in addition to teaching at FSU and CAU\, Harris maintains an online jazz guitar teaching studio platform via YouTube that boasts over 3\,900 worldwide subscribers. \n\n\n\nHarris continues to maintain an active performance and recording schedule.  Members of his band include Louis Heriveaux\, (piano)\, Tommy Sauter(bass)\, and Xavier Breaker(drums).
