SUMMARY:Friday\, January 27th: The Joe Alterman Trio *** SOLD OUT!! SOLD OUT!! SOLD OUT!! SOLD OUT!! SOLD OUT!! ***
DESCRIPTION:SHOWTIMES: 7:30PM AND 9:30PM. Atlanta native Joe Alterman expresses a certain upbeat naivete\, with a broad smile and bright eyes that make you feel welcome. One would not guess that this is a man hailed by greats; Ramsey Lewis describes his music as “happy music with tasty meat on the bones\,” Les McCann states “Joe’s on a ‘blow your mind’ level\,” and Ahmad Jamal calls him “a very special artist.” The 21st century has brought another transition for this thing called jazz; in one moment we see the push and pull between tradition and progression\, and in another we see Pop and Hip-Hop musicians emulating and sampling. In Joe Alterman we find none of this struggle; the music just sounds good. Our conscious faculties are instantly disabled as we tap our feet\, feeling the intent and joy of his playing. An old classic is new when you feel good in the moment. Or\, as legendary journalist Nat Hentoff wrote about Alterman in the Wall Street Journal\, “Alterman’s continually evolving presence on the jazz scene surely makes people smile and\, if the room is right\, dance. There’ll be no need for any last rites of jazz.” \n\n\n\n*** SOLD OUT!!! SOLD OUT!! SOLD OUT!!! SOLD OUT!!! SOLD OUT!!! ****

SUMMARY:Friday and Saturday\, January 20th & 21st: The Curtis Lundy Trio Featuring Pianist/Film Composer ELEW
DESCRIPTION:FRIDAY AND SATURDAY SHOWTIMES: 7:30PM AND 9:30PM. What happens when you mix a legendary bassist\, a vibrant\, rock/jazz piano star with composer chops\, and a GRAMMY winning drummer? The best show in town\, of course. Join us! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Curtis Lundy \n\n\n\nCurtis Leon Lundy is an accomplished bassist of the younger generation of artists who are carrying on the jazz tradition. A disciplined technician from Miami\, Florida\, Mr. Lundy began his musical career in the all miami youth jazz band. At the University of Miami he was classically trained under the tutelage of renowned bassist Dr. Lucas Drew. He has also studied privately with Jaco Pastorius and Ron Carter. \n\n\n\nLundy’s remarkable sense of jazz time allows him to play the most difficult of all jazz songs for musicians. From the start of lundy’s professional career to the present time he has performed with an impressive list of musical wizards\, including: Art Blakey\, Pharoah Saunders\, Freddie Hubbard\, Jon Faddis\, Hilton Ruiz\, Eddie “”lock.jaw” Davis\, Phyllis Hyman\, Wynton and Branford Marsalis\, Lionel Hampton\, Betty Carter\, Sonny Stitt\, John Hicks\, Woody Shaw\, Joe Henderson\, Sonny Fortune\, Dizzy Gillespie\, Johnny Hartman\, Phineas Newborn\, Bobby Watson\, Bobby hutcherson and many others. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout ELEW \n\n\n\nEric Robert Lewis (aka ELEW) is an innovator\, musical revolutionary and unmatched performer.  Fusing traditional jazz with elements of modern rock and pop\, ELEW’s masterful originals and blistering re-interpretations have ignited the interest of the country’s tastemakers and those in the cultural know. But more than this\, he possesses that ineffable spark that we only associate with true genius. Everything that he creates bears his singular mark—the stamp of something that we have never seen or heard\, but have always wanted to feel. \n\n\n\nA native of Camden\, New Jersey\, ELEW began his musical studies at a young age. After being granted a full scholarship to the Manhattan School of Music\, he set his sights toward making noise on a grand scale. Upon graduation\, he toured the world\, recorded\, and performed continuously with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra\, Elvin Jones\, Cassandra Wilson\, Roy Hargrove\, and Joe Henderson among others. \n\n\n\n1999 offered a formal confirmation of what was rapidly becoming clear when ELEW won the Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition. It’s a contest that goes beyond simply rewarding musical proficiency\, instead recognizing the elusive combination of knowledge\, command\, passion and expression that define a true piano master. \n\n\n\nToday\, ELEW has created a riveting new sound that is at once fresh and classic. In the jazz tradition of interpreting popular tunes of the day\, much like Art Tatum and John Coltrane\, ELEW manipulates and performs renditions of rock and pop songs by today’s top artists. A musical contortionist\, his compositions twist\, turn\, and careen between styles\, sounds\, and emotions\, resulting in a stunning aural experience. His new style is becoming so popular that his gigs are beginning to extend into the realm of film industry\, opening new doors for his talent to be recognized.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout Terreon Gullly \n\n\n\nGRAMMY- winning\, musician extraordinaire\, Terreon Gully is one of the most influential artists of his generation. Widely recognized for his creativity\, versatility and authenticity\, Terreon is in high demand. His innovative and distinct sound has inspired artists such as Dianne Reeves\, Christian McBride\, Stefon Harris as well as John Beasley’s Monk’estra to make him a member of their bands. \n\n\n\nTerreon has mastered a variety of musical genres. He performs\, tours and records extensively with a variety of artists. From jazz legends and modern masters to the hottest hip hop icons\, Terreon has worked with the best: Kurt Elling\, David Sanborn\, Nicholas Payton\, Kenny Barron\, the Stones Project\, Sting\, Keyon Harrold\, Queen Latifa\, Yerba Buena\, Charlie Hunter\, Abbey Lincoln\, Joe Locke\, Marc Cary\, Russell Gunn\, Lizz Wright\, Dee Dee Bridgewater\, Maria Schneider Big Band\, Jacky Terrasson\, Eldar\, Me’Shell NdegeOcello\, Lauryn Hill\, Pharoahe Monch\, Mos Def\, and Common as well as a host of other artists.  In addition to live performances\, Terreon is also known for his exceptional work in the studio\, producing and recording for CDs\, films\, and commercials; including his first solo project “TANKTIFIED”. \n\n\n\nCommitted to education and inspiring other musicians\, Terreon served as a Professor of Music at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg\, Canada and has given clinics and master classes all over the world; including\, Australia\, Canada\, France\, Germany and New Zealand. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPrice: $44.00
