SUMMARY:Sunday\, May 3rd: International GRAMMY Award-Winner Margo S.
DESCRIPTION:SHOWTIMES: 6:30PM AND 8:30PM. Polish-born\, New York–based vocalist and composer Margo Staniszewska\, known professionally as Margo S\, unites classical rigor with the freedom of jazz improvisation. Her debut album Ashes & Diamonds — released April 4\, 2025 on Truth Revolution Recording Collective — brings together Polish poetry\, lived narrative\, and the sound of New York’s contemporary jazz scene became a regular performer at Chelsea Table + Stage\, Triad Theater\, Williamsburg Music Center\, DADA Jazz Club\, and Brush Culture Jazz Club in Teaneck\, where she has sold out multiple shows. \n\n\n\nFor this album she won Best Jazz Album at the World Entertainment Award in Hollywood on January 31 2026\, during Grammy Week. \n\n\n\nIn 2022\, Staniszewska received an artist grant from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs\, which directly funded Ashes & Diamonds. Recorded at The Bunker Studio\, the album features David Kikoski (piano)\, Stacy Dillard (saxophone)\, Ricky Rodriguez (bass)\, David Hawkins (drums)\, Leandro Pellegrino (guitar)\, Spike Wilner (piano on two standards)\, and Stefano Battaglia (bass). The music draws from Polish Romantic poetry and personal narrative; she sets texts by Cyprian Norwid and Adam Asnyk\, weaving the rhythmic form of the Polonaise into a contemporary jazz language. \n\n\n\n She premiered Ashes & Diamonds at Triad Theater and Chelsea Table + Stage\, followed by performances at Jazz on Main (Mount Kisco)\, the Greenpoint Jazz Festival\, Gregory’s Jazz Club in Rome\, and the ‘Jazz nad Nilem’ Festival in Poland. She is currently writing her second album for Truth Revolution. \n\n\n\nHer voice also appears on Residente’s Grammy-winning album Las Letras Ya No Importan (Best Música Urbana Album\, 2025)\, for which she composed and recorded the choral parts to “Pólvora de Ayer.”She obtained a Grammy Diploma for this collaboration. \n\n\n\nMargo will perform at The Velvet Note on April 11th at 7.30 pm and 9.30 pm. She will sing songs from her Best Album’s winner “Ashes and Diamonds” and her new compositions. With her smooth\, colorful voice she will take you across the world: from Europe through America\, and her New York sound to the world of jazz\, poetry and rhythm.

SUMMARY:May 9th & 10th: Mother's Day at The Velvet Note with The Velvet Note!
DESCRIPTION:SATURDAY SHOWTIMES: 7:30 AND 9:30 \n\n\n\nSUNDAY SHOWTIMES: 5:30 AND 7:30 \n\n\n\nHappy Mother’s Day Weekend! Born in St. Louis\, Missouri\, Dwayne’s and Dwight’s passion for jazz started at an early age. They grew up listening to the sounds of great jazz artists such as Earl “Fatha” Hines\, Count Basie\, Duke Ellington and their father Lloyd Smith\, who was a well known businessman and a side man in Basie’s and Ellington’s orchestras. They are both Florida A&M University music scholars\, composers\, arrangers\, jazz artists and music educators. Over the years\, The Bosman Twins have shared their love of music and the stage with entertainment legends Freddie Cole\, Branford Marsalis\, Fontella Bass\, Roy Ayers\, David Peaston and the late trumpeter\, Lester Bowie. Whether performing with their own band or accompanying other notable jazz professionals\, their unique style and renditions of jazz\, rhythm and blues\, funk and gospel have earned them national and international acclaim. \n\n\n\nGet to know The Bosman Twins and their music by clicking HERE. \n\n\n\nThe Bosmans play an array of woodwind instruments\, ranging from tenor and alto saxophone (Dwayne and Dwight’s primary instruments) to soprano sax and a variety of clarinets and flutes. They always bring an infectious enthusiasm and energy to the stage\, an approach they learned from their father\, Lloyd Smith\, an alto saxophonist and flute player who worked with such famous St. Louis bandleaders as Fate Marable\, Charles Creath and Dewey Jackson – and later played with legends like Earl Hines and Duke Ellington on the national jazz scene.
