DESCRIPTION:SHOWTIMES: 7:30pm and 9:30pm  Ella Beth is an Australian jazz-soul singer/songwriter and previous finalist on The Voice Vietnam. She has been performing professionally for over a decade both in Australia and internationally from Asia to Europe to the Middle East. Her voice and music have often been compared to that of a contemporary Amy Winehouse. Her other influences include Joss Stone\, Ella Fizgerald and Jorja Smith. \n\n\n\nElla Beth is a well rounded vocalist\, having studied classical and musical theatre voice and studying jazz vocals under direction of renowned Australian jazz vocalist Jackie Cooper. Her vocal performance can range from smooth jazz to belting out theatre and soul ballad classics.  \n\n\n\nDuring her time in Vietnam\, Ella Beth also hosted a number of Open Mic Nights\, notably at Hanoi Rock City for 3 years\, building the live music scene and community.  \n\n\n\nShe also toured internationally to Italy in 2019 with jazz collective ‘The Hanoing Jazz Band’ with whom she was a lead vocalist. \n\n\n\nIn 2021\, Ella Beth relocated to Atlanta\, Georgia where she is currently living and performing. She is currently in pre production for her debut EP to be released mid 2023. \n\n\n\nIn 2020 her first original live MV “Unlike Me” was released on youtube and in 2022 her debut single “Giving Up On Love” was released on soundcloud.

DESCRIPTION:ONE SHOW ONLY– 7:30pm. Rusty Hayes is an exuberant crooner\, raised in the Atlanta area. He grew up surrounded by a rich mixture of soul stirring music and great story telling. He would listen intently as a child when the adults described the antics that went on at parties when such songs as Saturday Night Fish Fry by Louis Jordan\, were jumping. Equally fascinating and moving was the classic and contemporary gospel music that was everywhere in his formative years. Jazz\, Soul and Rock also shaped his musical landscape as Atlanta became a more multicultural city. He started writing poetry and songs as a teenager. That was also about the time that he joined the Stone Mountain Male Chorus\, a gospel group founded in his neighborhood.

DESCRIPTION:SHOWTIMES:  7:30PM AND 9:30PM.  Gregory Green\, known professionally as Grant Green Jr.\, is a jazz guitarist and the eldest son of jazz guitarist Grant Green. He is a member of the group Masters of Groove with Bernard Purdie and Reuben Wilson.   Born in St Louis\, Missouri on August 4\, 1955\, Grant Green Jr. started playing guitar at the age of fourteen. In 1969 he moved to Detroit with his father\, who died ten years later. His neighbors included Stevie Wonder‘s parents\, Marvin Gaye\, and members of the Four Tops. He has worked with Richard “Groove” Holmes\, Leon Thomas\, Jimmy McGriff\, Lou Donaldson\, and Lonnie Smith. \n\n\n\nReleased this summer\, Thank You Mr. Bacharach finds Grant\, Jr. performing six fresh arrangements of some of the more popular Burt-penned tunes\, with a couple of off-the-beaten-path pieces to add extra flair to the proceedings.  was an American composer\, songwriter\, record producer\, and pianist who is widely regarded as one of the most important and influential figures of 20th-century popular music.  Mr. Green and his quartet will also perform a couple of selections made famous by his iconic father.

DESCRIPTION:ONE SHOW ONLY:  7pm.  Sataraš Quartet (pronounced SAH – tah – rash) is an instrumental quartet from Atlanta that fuses jazz improvisation with ethnic Southern European roots and American blues to create exciting new worlds of sound. Conceived by guitarist Eddie Beho and saxophonist Jeff Crompton\, they soon lured bassist Colin Bragg and drummer Blake Helton with the promise of untold musical delights. The work of John Coltrane\, Miles Davis\, and Jimi Hendrix are touchstones\, and yet the group has found both an original\, powerful sound and a loyal following. \n\n\n\nThe group released a studio album Errors and Omissions that fulfilled their mantra of “music 5000 miles wide.” The tracks traverse time\, distance\, and influence\, but come together in a way that only a well-tuned band can produce – assured\, exciting\, and at times telepathic. All aspects of the Quartet’s musical output is covered: adventurous\, electric takes on ethnic folk\, abstract blues and funk\, an original jazz\, and a jazz classics. The group navigates these stylistic turns with a strong sonic identity and unity of purpose.  \n\n\n\nJournalist Doug DeLoach states\, “It’s jazz seasoned with sinuous Balkan riffs and compound Macedonian rhythms\, smoked to perfection and washed down with a pitcher of Bitches Brew.” \n\n\n\nKeen to present their live sound\, the group has planned an ongoing run of limited edition releases titled the Official Bootleg Series. The first volume captures a performance at Atlanta’s Red Light Cafe. \n\n\n\nMusic writer Bill Mankin exclaims\, “This album is stunning. And it’s not just ‘great for a live album’; the audio fidelity is outstanding\, as is the stereo mix…the music\, arrangements and playing are phenomenal\, and the stylistic mix is not merely fascinating\, it works brilliantly. The brothers are known for their velvety-smooth baritone treatment of some of the greatest compositions ever made in Jazz & The Great American Songbook. \n\n\n\nMarc & Mike studied with the great Bill Brannen from 1989 to 1991. Most of the brothers’ professional career has been spent as featured vocalist behind former Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers pianist\, Johnny O’neal. They have had the great honor to perform before Jazz greats such as Milt Jackson\, Kenny Burrell\, Nancy Willson\, and Eddie Harris. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe brothers have a great passion for Jazz and the Great American Songbook. Their recent recording\, High Standards\, is a tribute to legendary figures such as Nat King Cole\, Joe Williams\, Frank Sinatra\, and Johnny Hartman. Marc & Mike are heeding the advice of their hero\, Joe Williams\, who told them quite bluntly\, “do what you do.”

Club owner Tamara Fuller and seasoned Atlanta performer Kristin Tinsley share a deep love and admiration for all things Stevie Nicks\, the face of Fleetwood Mac. So\, it was a no-brainer when Fuller approached Kristin with an idea: Perform a Stevie Nicks tribute show at her Alpharetta club\, The Velvet Note. \n\n\n\n“Stand Back\,” the Stevie Nicks tribute band\, was formed with – who else? – but Kristin on lead vocals along with fellow musicians Scott Ritshie (keyboards)\, Nick Edelstein and Daniel Glozier (guitar)\, Steve Mays (bass) and Doug Easterly (drums). Selecting these bandmembers was easy for Kristin\, who had  performed with them in a Chicago tribute band from 2017 to 2020. \n\n\n\nKristin credits Scott Ritshie\, a highly talented keyboardist\, as being “the glue” for every song they attempt.  “He strives for perfection when it comes to his craft\,” she said\, and his attention to detail and care with every sound choice holds every song together.” \n\n\n\nIn Nick Edelstein\, who owns Village Music in Avondale\, Ga.\,  Kristin sees “a versatile instrumentalist and educator.” He is involved in several musical projects that include “Nick and the Grooves\,” “Opera Carolina\,” and “Black Sheep Ensemble.” \n\n\n\nThat first tribute performance at The Velvet Note hit a few snags\, one due to the original bass player contracting the COVID-19 virus. “No worries\,” said Fuller\, the club owner\, who recommended Steve Mays\, a former house bass player at Velvet Note described by Kristin as one of the band’s “most versatile\, solid and well-rounded players.” \n\n\n\nThe remaining other two band members are no slouches when it comes to their musical acumen and stage presence.  \n\n\n\nDoug Easterly has a background as a vocalist in Rumors ATL\, the Fleetwood Mac tribute band\, played drums for the ZZ Top tribute band\, “Cheap Sunglasses\, as well as other accomplishments. “We played opposite each other on Fridays at a local upscale restaurant for about four years and have been friends for nearly a decade\,” Kristin said. “He has been with us ever since I needed a drummer after the third Stevie tribute show\,” she said.  \n\n\n\nDaniel Glozier has played with AIA and currently plays with the Stephen Lee Band out of Atlanta. “He is one of the most technically sound players who brings a wealth of knowledge professionalism and a standard of sound to any project he is part of.” \n\n\n\nDespite the short time together as the “Stand Back Band” these artists have known each other in some musical  sense and fashion for many years. So\, it’s no stretch for them to master Fleetwood Mac’s most indelible songs with an ease and precision that pleases fans.  “The best part about this show is that not only do I get to play the music of my favorite artist\,” Kristin said\, “but I get to do so with five of the best musicians I have ever worked with.”

The truth is\, Sessoms is more than just a singer; she’s a master performer both onstage and off. Known for her soulful and powerful voice\, Sessoms displays an effortless command of the stage that truly resonates with audiences. And with a voice hailed by both Rolling Stone and Billboard as “exquisite”\, it’s no wonder she’s performed all over the world\, with the biggest names in music\, \n\n\n\nBorn in Harlem\, New York to a family of notable musicians\, her father was a percussionist for James Brown\, while her mother was a highly sought after jingle\, and session singer. Currently he resides in Orlando\, where continues to write and produce music for various artists and media.Will Montgomery II (Drums)Born in Queens\, New York and raised in St. Augustine\, Fl.\, Will Montgomery grew up mastering the drum set at an early age with his church family\, and his father\, a well known DJ in the 70’s\, who inspired him.Because of their young ages\, Will and two church friends became the “talk of the town” due to their immense talents\, and their abilities to master diverse selections of music. Will later began playing the keyboard and eventually the bass guitar\, quickly becoming proficient in all genres on each instrument. Will also composes and produces music\, and conquered Jacksonville with a local project known as The Band Be Easy\, all while playing with other major artists at the time. Determined\, to reach the next level in his music career\, Will set his sights on Atlanta\, and within only a few months became a much sought after\, player\, who has gone on to perform and record with several well-known artists and musicians throughout the Atlanta area. Will is currently recording and touring with the conscious rap collective Arrested Development.

DESCRIPTION:SHOWTIME:  7:00pm.  In “trap jazz\,” the term “trap” is borrowed from the trap music genre and is used to describe the incorporation of trap-style beats\, rhythms\, and production techniques into jazz music. Trap music originated in the early 2000s and is characterized by its use of heavy 808 drum patterns\, hi-hats\, aggressive beats\, and often dark and atmospheric soundscapes. This fusion of genres results in a unique blend of traditional jazz elements and contemporary hip-hop influences. \n\n\n\nJody Mayfield is a highly-regarded jazz virtuoso hailing from Atlanta\, GA. He honed his musical skills at Morris Brown College\, where he received a B.A. in Music Performance and a Master’s degree in Music Technology from Southern Utah University. Jody’s exceptional educational background complements his immense musical talent.  Throughout his career\, Jody has had the privilege of performing alongside legendary jazz musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie\, James Lloyd\, Frank Foster\, and Grover Washington Jr. He has also opened for iconic artists\, including Sarah Vaughn\, Dexter Gordon\, and Lionel Hampton\, and collaborated with hip-hop legends like Jermaine Dupri and Organized Noize. \n\n\n\nProfessor Mayfield’s program is a three-part concert residency\, performed with a full band on the following dates:  November 12\, December 10 and January 21.
