SUMMARY:Four Women
DESCRIPTION:SHOWTIMES: 7:30PM AND 9:30PM. At the heart of the evening are the Four Women—each a commanding artist with a distinct voice and story to tell. Acclaimed vocalist and Billie Holiday Competition winner Iva Jean Ambush\, masterful interpreter and Howard University alumna Faith Jordan Willingham\, soulful storyteller Jeanette Mallory Brown\, and powerhouse stylist Joyce Licorish come together in a dynamic celebration of jazz and soul. Together\, they span generations of influence while honoring the traditions that connect the music at its core. \n\n\n\nEach vocalist brings a powerful narrative and musical perspective to the stage\, performing selections that embody strength\, vulnerability\, protest\, joy\, and triumph. From intimate ballads to groove-driven soul\, from swinging standards to contemporary interpretations\, the Four Women deliver both individual artistry and inspired ensemble moments that promise to move and uplift audiences. \n\n\n\nThe evening also features a stirring collective performance of “Four Women\,” a work that remains deeply resonant as both reflection and affirmation—underscoring the concert’s theme of heritage\, identity\, and enduring influence. \n\n\n\nGuiding the celebration is host Gwen “Rivablue” Redding\, beloved radio personality\, jazz historian\, and cultural advocate. With more than four decades in broadcasting\, she brings warmth\, insight\, and storytelling to the stage—and will offer a special musical tribute in honor of Women’s History Month. \n\n\n\nBacked by an exceptional rhythm section featuring Louis Heriveaux (piano)\, Ramon Pooser (bass)\, and Che Marshall (drums)\, 4 Women of Jazz more than a concert—it is a vibrant tribute to the women whose voices continue to shape culture and community.
